BERLINO – Il 29 settembre 2023, al Theatre des Westens di Berlinoè andato in scena Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart di Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar.
Dopo il successo diOCD Love, sul labile confine tra amore e ossessione, eLove Capter 2, sull’amore finito,ne Il brutale viaggio del cuore la coreografa gerosolimitana affronta il tema della riparazione.
L’ultimo pezzo della trilogia vede in scena i danzatori della L-E-V con i cuori esposti in bella mostra e i corpi ricoperti di tatuaggi. Partendo da questa posizione di vulnerabilità i performer compiono un viaggio di dolore e riparazione. Nell’inconfondibile stile della Eyal, la danza è caratterizzata da piccoli passi in mezza punta, profondi plié e, più in generale, dall’alternanza di movimenti ampi e sinuosi con scatti veloci e calibrati del corpo, che si ripetono in un loop ipnotico. Molti i momenti di unisono che offrono immagini suggestive e potenti, ma altrettanto interessanti sono le parti coreografiche che vedono un danzatore allontanarsi dal gruppo e ‘raccontare’ qualcosa di sé. La musica di Ori Lichtik accompagna questo brutale viaggio del cuore alternando momenti più leggeri, in cui il sound ha influenze latine, ad altri in cui l’atmosfera è più dark ed è preponderante il suono elettronico.
Da un punto di vista drammaturgico, anche se si possono distinguere i momenti difficili e bui di una relazione da quelli positivi, in cui si trova il conforto nell’altro, lo spettacolo è un po’ ripetitivo e manca di un vero picco emotivo. Ciò detto, l’assoluta bravura dei danzatori e il linguaggio unico della coreografa, ex star della Batcheva Dance Company, rendono il Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart uno spettacolo da non perdere.
BERLIN – On September 29th, 2023, Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar was performed at the Theater des Westens in Berlin.
After the success of OCD Love, on the fragile border between love and obsession, and Love Chapter 2, on finite love, in The brutal journey of the heart the Jerusalem choreographer deals with the theme of love mending.
The last piece of the trilogy features the L-E-V dancers on stage with their hearts exposed and their bodies covered by tattoos. Starting from this position of vulnerability the performers undertake a journey of pain and healing. In Eyal’s recognizable style, the dance is characterized by small steps in demi-pointe, grand pliés and, in general, by the alternation of large and sinuous movements with fast and calibrated tocs of the body, which are repeated in a hypnotic loop. There are many moments of unison that offer suggestive and powerful images, but equally interesting are the choreographic parts in which a dancer takes distance from the group and ‘tells’ something about himself.Ori Lichtik’s music accompanies this brutal journey of the heart, alternating lighter moments withLatininfluenced sounds, to others with a darker atmosphere where the electronic sound is predominant.
From a dramaturgical point of view, even if you can distinguish the difficult and dark moments of a relationship from the positive ones, in which you find comfort in the other, the show is a bit repetitive and lacks a real emotional peak. That said, the sheer skill of the dancers and the unique language of the choreographer, the Batcheva Dance Company’s former star, make Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart a show not to be missed.
