BERLINO – Arrivato alla sua ventinovesima edizione, anche quest’estate, come ogni anno, si è tenuto il festival Tanz im August.
Circa tre settimane in cui si sono alternati sui maggiori palcoscenici di Berlino trenta produzioni firmate da alcuni tra i più interessanti coreografi contemporanei.
Quest’anno, molto vario il programma e tanto diversi gli spettacoli della rassegna.
Molto bello To a simple, rock’n’roll…song, lavoro in tre atti della Michael Clark Company.
Lo show si apre con una coreografia molto tecnica, fatta di linee e di precise geometrie, che ricorda Bird di Merce Cunningham.
Sulla musica per pianoforte composta da Erik Satie, un ensemble di otto danzatori si esibisce a canone in legazioni piene di virtuosismi che mettono in luce le doti dei singoli danzatori. Progressivamente il gruppo esce di scena e sul palco resta un giovanissimo ballerino che con grande naturalezza e senza esitazioni esegue un solo molto complesso. Di lì un susseguirsi di passaggi coreografici che vedono i danzatori in diverse formazioni sino al gran finale in cui, di nuovo, la compagnia è tutta riunita sul palco.
Dopo gli applausi, resta la sensazione che la musica sia stata suonata dai corpi degli otto magnifici performer.
Il secondo e il terzo atto sono coreografie più giocose e contemporanee, rispettivamente su musiche di Patty Smith e David Bowie.
C’è un uso diverso del pavimento e, in questo caso, le forme sono soltanto brevi passaggi da un movimento ad un altro.
Notevoli i costumi e molto ben riuscita la scelta del fondale monocromatico prima azzurro, poi arancio, poi giallo.
In un periodo in cui gli spettacoli tendono sempre più alla “ricerca” e sono contaminati da altre forme d’arte, è bello poter assistere a un lavoro in cui la danza è l’assoluta protagonista.
Now in its 29th edition, this Summer, like every year, Tanz im August was on.
The festival went on for three weeks, during which some of the most interesting contemporary choreographers alternate on the major Berlin stages with thirty productions.
This year, the program was very varied and each show is very different from the other.
A very nice piece is To a simple, rock’n’roll … song, a work of three acts by the Michael Clark Company.
The show opens with very technical choreography, made up of lines and precise geometries, reminiscent of Merce Cunningham’s work: Bird.
An ensemble of eight dancers perform to piano music composed by Erik Satie. They perform in canon and dance legations full of virtuosity that highlight the skill of the individual dancers. Progressively the band comes out from the stage and a very young dancer, with great naturalness and without hesitation performs a very complex solo. From there, you see a succession of choreographic passages where the dancers group in different formations until the grand finale where, again, the company is reunited on stage.
After the applause, the audience is left with the feeling that the music has been played out by the bodies of the eight magnificent performers.
The second and third acts are more playful and contemporary, accompanied by music by Patty Smith and David Bowie.
There is a different use of the floor and, in this case, shapes are only short steps from one movement to another.
The costumes are remarkable and the choice of the monochrome backdrop is firstly blue, then orange, then yellow.
At a time when shows tend to be more “experimental” and are contaminated by other forms of art, it’s great to be able to see a piece where dance is the absolute protagonist.
