Sabato 18 giugno, presso lo Studio db di Berlino, ha debuttato Say Something del Collective 123.o.
BERLINO – L’idea è semplice, ma efficace. All’ingresso viene chiesto agli spettatori di scrivere una parola su dei post-it e di attaccarla su una parete bianca che delimita uno dei lati dello spazio performativo. Una volta che il pubblico prende posto sulle sedie disposte in modo da creare due prosceni, i nove danzatori del collettivo fanno il loro ingresso in ‘sala’. Da questo momento, attraverso le parole scritte dal pubblico, nasce un’improvvisazione a cui, ogni qual volta passano a una parola diversa, ne segue un’altra e poi un’altra ancora.
I performer riempiono lo spazio con i loro movimenti, interagiscono tra loro, usano la voce e, con il supporto di un campionatore, producono la musica che rimanda sempre ai post-it che determinano e influenzano la loro esibizione.
Lo spettacolo offre diversi momenti interessanti, alcuni passaggi di danza molto belli, e altri divertenti. Anche il ritmo, lo stile e la diversa personalità dei danzatori rendono l’improvvisazione molto varia. Si passa, infatti, dal contact al floor work ma anche a gag che provocano sonore risate del pubblico. Soltanto per un attimo, poco prima della fine, la performance perde il collegamento con le parole, ma subito dopo ritrova il suo ‘senso’ quando i post-it vengono disposti su tutto il pavimento.
Say Something è un work in progress molto promettente
Se l’idea potrebbe far pensare a un esercizio da laboratorio di composizione coreografica, la qualità dell’esibizione e l’esperienza dei danzatori rendono Say something un lavoro ben pensato ed eseguito, in grado di coinvolgere il pubblico. Gli spettatori, infatti, grazie alle parole suggerite, si sentono parte attiva dello spettacolo che seguono con partecipazione fino alla fine.
On Saturday June 18th, at the DB Studio in Berlin, the Collective 123.o presented the premiere of Say Something.
The idea is simple, but effective. At the entrance, spectators are asked to write a word on a post-it and to stick it on a white wall that delimits one side of the performative. Once the audience sits on the chairs arranged to create two prosceniums, the collective’s dancers enter the hall. At this moment, based on the words chosen by the audience, an improvisation starts and, every time they switch to a different word, another one follows and then still another.
The performers fill the space with their movements, interact with each other, use the voice and, with the support of a sampler, produce music that always refers to the post-its that determine and influence their performance.
The show offers several interesting moments, with very beautiful dance passages, and other fun ones. Rhythm, style and different dancers’ personalities also make improvisation always different. In fact, they move from contact to floor work but also to gags that provoke loud laughter in the audience. Only for a moment, just before the end, the performance loses its connection with the words, but immediately afterwards it finds its ‘meaning’ when the post-its are placed all over the floor.
Say Something is a promising work in progress
If the idea might suggest a choreographic composition laboratory exercise, the quality of the performance and the experience of the dancers make Say something a well thought and well executed work, able to involve the public who, thanks to the suggested words, feels as an active part of the show that follows and participates until the end.
