BERLINO – Il 2 e 3 dicembre presso il Radialsystem Berlin, Martha Hincapié Charry ha presentato HEKATOMBE III – movements and rituals for the renewal of the world.
Con HEKATOMBE III la coreografa colombiana, che già in passato aveva mostrato particolare interesse e sensibilità verso il problema ‘ambiente’, ci porta in Messico, in particolare a Nayarit.
Il suo spettacolo inizia, infatti, con la testimonianza di una donna della comunità Huichol (o Wixarika) che, da un grande schermo posto alle spalle dello stage, racconta delle tre cerimonie che la sua popolazione osserva ogni anno per ringraziare la natura, il cosmo e le stelle nonché delle danze propiziatorie per la pioggia e i raccolti.
La prima cerimonia è quella del mais, considerato dai huicholes l’alimento del mondo. La cerimonia prevede un’intera notte di danze e canti fino al giorno seguente. La seconda è la peregrinazione nel deserto, al fine di incontrare l’hikuri, un peyote che serve per apprendere, conoscere e assorbire l’energia che verrà messa in ogni cosa che i huicholes produrranno. La terza cerimonia, ancora per il mais, consiste nell’offrire alla madre terra cioccolato e biscotti prima della semina. Dopo aver descritto questi rituali, inizia una critica nei confronti di chi inquina la terra con pesticidi o estrae minerali preziosi compromettendo la fertilità del suolo.
Mentre parte un secondo video con la testimonianza di un anziano signore che parla proprio della sconsiderata estrazione dei minerali, la Hincapié inizia a ‘relazionarsi’ con la sabbia, il legno il terreno e i rami che sono disposti nello spazio performativo. In modo delicato, armonico, rispettoso e per niente invasivo, cerca di diventare parte degli elementi naturali che la circondano.
La performance, grazie anche alla drammaturgia curata da Davide Camplani, è perfettamente calibrata con le video proiezioni. Senza smanie di protagonismo, l’artista colombiana dosa il suo intervento rendendolo essenziale. Il messaggio di HEKATOMBE III è chiaro e forte, non ha bisogno di altro. Anche con questo spettacolo la Hincapié ci invita a una maggiore consapevolezza e rispetto del nostro mondo.
BERLIN – On December 2th and 3th at the Radialsystem Berlin, Martha Hincapié Charry presented HEKATOMBE III – movements and rituals for the renewal of the world.
With HEKATOMBE III the Colombian choreographer, who had already shown in the pastparticular interest and sensitivity towards ‘ecological’ problem, takes us to Mexico, in particular to Nayarit.
Her show begins, in fact, with the testimony of a woman from the Huichol (or Wixarika) community who, from a large screen placed behind the stage, tells us of the ceremonies that her population does every year to thank nature, the cosmos, the stars and the propitiatory dances they do for rain and harvests.
The first ceremony is aboutthe corn, considered by the huicholes to be the food of the world. The ceremony includes an entire night of dancing and singing until the following day.The second is the walk through the desert, in order to meet hikuri, peyote that is used to learn, know and absorb the energy that will be put into everything they produce.The third ceremony, again for corn, consists in offering chocolate and biscuits to mother earth before sowing. After describing these rituals, she begins a criticism of those who pollute the earth with pesticides or extract precious minerals, compromising the fertility of the soil.
While a second video with the testimony of an elderly man who talks about the reckless extraction of mineralsstarts, Hincapié begins to interact with the sand, the wood, the soil and the branches that are arranged on stage. In a delicate, harmonious, respectful and not at all invasive way, she tries to become part of the natural elements that surround her.
The performance, thanks also to the dramaturgy curated by Davide Camplani, is perfectly calibrated with video projections. Without craving for protagonism, the Colombian artist doses her intervention, making it essential. The message of HEKATOMBE III is clear and strong, it doesn’t need anything else. Also with this show Hincapié invites us to greater awareness and respect for our world.
