La Video Danza è un genere sconfinato e multiforme, in continuo divenire. Le potenzialità di creazione artistica del corpo in movimento trovano infinite declinazioni nella cornice del corto cinematografico, del videoclip musicale, della videoarte, del film sperimentale.
Il festival di Video Danza Breaking 8 nasce nel 2013 come progetto collaterale dell’ultratrentennale festival Internazionale di danza contemporanea Nuova Danza, con l’intento di diffondere la cultura della danza, conoscere e far conoscere opere e artisti diversi e distanti tra loro per provenienza geografica e retroterra culturale, creare contatti e collaborazioni artistiche tra film-makers, videoartisti, danzatori, coreografi e musicisti, in Europa e nel mondo. Breaking 8 vuole dare impulso alla ricerca e diffusione di nuove contaminazioni tra la danza, nella sua molteplicità di stili, tecniche e contesti, e i linguaggi del cinema e new media art.

Le opere selezionate verranno proiettate durante il FIND 34 dal 01/10/2016 al 01/11/2016. Una più ristretta selezione verrà presentata nell’ambito della programmazione dei festival internazionali nostri partners.

Breaking 8 – International festival of video Dance submissions are officially open!
Share your work, share your perspective on the ever-evolving genre of videodance. Breaking8 does not include a competition. The selected works will be screened during the international contemporary dance festival FIND, from 01/10/2016 to 01/11/2016 and a restricted selection will be presented in our international partners’ festivals.
Video dance is a boundless, multifarious and everchanging genre. The artistic dimension of the body in movement can be interpreted in infinite forms through the medium of cinema, from short films and videoart to videoclips.
The International Festival of Video Dance Breaking 8 stems as a collateral project from the thirty- four years history of the FIND- contemporary dance international festival, with the aim of spreading the culture of dance, to learn and diffuse the knowledge of diverse artists and works.
Breaking 8 wants to stimulate research and creative connections, not only among filmmakers, choreographers, performers, musicians, videoartists and international festivals, but also in spreading ideas, in bringing to the public a glimpse of what is happening and evolving in this form of art worldwide, to experience the world of contemporary dance in its many facets.
