BERLINO – Il 17 marzo a Berlino, presso il Tanzkomplizen, ha debuttato OZ – The magic in us di Joy Alpuerto Ritter.
La rivisitazione del famoso musical del 1939, Il mago di Oz, inizia con Dorothy, interpretata dalla talentuosa ed espressiva Alba de Miguel, la quale, svegliatasi da un incubo, si aggira disorientata in un luogo che sembra non riconoscere. Nel suo tentativo di tornare a casa, in compagnia del suo cane (una scarpa rossa), la bambina si imbatte in uno spaventapasseri, impersonato da Liam Wustrack, che imita tutti i suoi gesti. Sul suo cammino, poi, incontra l’uomo di latta – Joshua Nsubuga – i cui movimenti scattosi provocano continui rumori metallici. Infine, la stessa Joy Alpuerto Ritter, nei panni di un timido leone, si avvicina agli altri con circospezione per poi prendere parte alla buffa spedizione che si conclude con il risveglio di Dorothy.
I quattro protagonisti di questa avventura, attraverso la danza, la musica e tanto divertimento, si fanno portatori di molti messaggi positivi: va bene, è abbastanza, è finita! cantano in coro. Nella loro narrazione accompagnano il giovane pubblico a sperimentare diverse emozioni: lo smarrimento iniziale, la scoperta che accompagna ogni nuovo incontro di Dorothy, il gioco, la paura che provano di fronte all’ignoto e il senso di solidarietà che li unisce.
La rivisitazione de Il mago di Oz di Joy Alpuerto Ritter, anche se un po’ lunga, risulta convincente. Il suo spettacolo, sebbene sia dedicato e pensato per i più giovani, riesce a coinvolgere e a incontrare il gradimento anche dei tanti adulti presenti nel pubblico.

On March 17th in Berlin, at the Tanzkomplizen, OZ – The magic in us by Joy Alpuerto Ritter debuted.
The dance remake of the famous 1939 musical The Wizard of Oz begins with Dorothy, performed by the talented and expressive Alba de Miguel, who, having awakened from a nightmare, wanders disoriented in a place that she doesn’t recognize. In her attempt to return home, in the company of her dog (a red shoe), the little girl runs into a scarecrow, played by Liam Wustrack, who imitates all her gestures. On her way, then, she meets the tin man – Joshua Nsubuga -, whose jerky movements cause continuous metallic noises. Then also Joy Alpuerto Ritter herself, in the guise of a shy lion, cautiously approaches the others to then take part in the funny expedition which ends with Dorothy’s awakening.
The four protagonists of this adventure, through dance, music and lots of fun, are the bearers of many positive messages: It’s okay, it’s enough, it’s over! they sing in chorus. In their narration they accompany the young audience to experience different emotions: the initial bewilderment, the sense of discovery that characterize each new Dorothy’s encounter, the playfulness, the fear that they feel in front of the unknown and the sense of solidarity that unites them.
The reinterpretation of The Wizard of Oz by Joy Alpuerto Ritter, even if a bit long, is convincing. Her show, although is dedicated and designed for the youngest, manages to involve and meet the approval of the adults in the audience as well.
