Nel programma della trentaquattresima edizione di Tanz im August c’è anche La Veronal che si esibisce in Sonoma, tributo che Marcos Morau, coreografo Valenciano e direttore della compagnia, fa al grande regista surrealista Luis Buñuel.
BERLINO – In una perfetta sintesi tra modernità e passato, tra teatro parlato e danza contemporanea, Morau riesce a dar vita a uno spettacolo coinvolgente, dal ritmo incalzante e ricco di immagini che spaziano da una dimensione onirica a una empirica.
Per la prima scena, attingendo dalle proprie radici culturali e dalla tradizione sacra spagnola, Morau ricostruisce un rito religioso, ma lo fa con la sue estetica visionaria.
Servendosi di vestiti dalle gonne enormi che nascondono le gambe, fa sembrare che le nove danzatrici si spostino sul palco scivolando. A questa, fa seguire un’incredibile sequenza coreografica in cui le ballerine appaiono con i volti incappucciati. La danza, fatta di movimenti veloci e spezzati delle braccia, è carica di energia e si accorda alla perfezione agli accenti musicali, mettendo alla prova l’estremo senso ritmico che dimostrano di avere le protagoniste di questo racconto surreale.
Durante lo spettacolo cambiano diverse volte luci e musica per introdurre nuovi elementi e nuovi scenari.
Dalla danza delle monache, si passa all’incontro di vecchie signore dalle teste giganti con alcune adolescenti che giocano nei loro abiti bianchi domenicali. In antitesi con il loro aspetto virginale, le fanciulle non tardano a mostrare il loro sadismo, schernendo e isolando l’unica fanciulla che resta senza la palla luminosa. In una scena di estasi religiosa, dopo essersi radunate per cantare un canone febbrile, si arriva alla catarsi finale, in cui le protagoniste di Sonoma suonano i tamburi e gridano: C’est nous qui avons appris à dominer le feu (Noi che abbiamo imparato a padroneggiare il fuoco).
Scenografie degne di una produzione cinematografica, coreografie avvincenti e spettacolari, corpo di ballo espressivo, intenso e preciso, musiche folcloriche, drammatiche, esaltanti: Sonoma è un capolavoro dedicato alle donne, alla loro forza, alla loro storia, alle lotte già affrontate e quelle ancora da vincere.
In the Tanz im August 34th edition program, there is La Veronal who performs in Sonoma, a tribute that Marcos Morau, a Valencian choreographer and director of the company pays to the great surrealist director Luis Buñuel.
BERLINO – In a perfect synthesis between modernity and past, between spoken theater and contemporary dance, Morau manages to create an engaging show, with a fast rhythm and full of images that range from a dreamlike to an empirical dimension.
For the first scene, drawing on his cultural roots of the Spanish sacred tradition, Morau reconstructs a religious rite but does so with his visionary aesthetics.
Using dresses with huge skirts that hide the ballerinas’ legs, he makes the nine female dancers appear as if they slide across the stage. An incredible choreographic sequence follows in which the dancers appear with hooded faces. The dance, made up of fast and broken movements of the arms, is full of energy and perfectly synchronized with the musical accents, testing the extreme sense of rhythm that the protagonists of this surreal tale prove to have.
During the show, lights and music change several times to introduce new elements and new scenarios.
From the dance of the nuns, we move on to the meeting of old ladies with giant heads with teenagers who play in their white Sunday dresses. Despite their virginal appearance, the girls do not take long to show their sadism, mocking and isolating the only girl who is left without the luminous ball. In a scene of religious ecstasy, after having gathered to sing a feverish canon, we arrive at the final catharsis, in which the protagonists of Sonoma play the drums and shout: C’est nous qui avons appris à dominer le feu (It is us who have learned to master fire).
