BERLINO – La Nederlands Dans Theater, una delle più importanti compagnie di danza contemporanea al mondo, ha incantato e strabiliato il pubblico della Haus der Berliner Festspiele con uno spettacolo memorabile.
La compagnia ha presentato quattro coreografie del suo repertorio di oltre 600 lavori.
Il primo pezzo a essere esigeuito è stato Woke up blind di Marco Goecke.
La coreografia è evidentemente ispirata dalle due canzoni d’amore di Jeff Buckley che accompagnano il pezzo: You and I e The way young lovers do.
I ballerini si muovono in un sincro perfetto con i suoni frenetici della chitarra.
La danza precisa, veloce, tecnica ma assolutamente contemporanea è quella tipica, unica e riconoscibile di Goecke.
La performance è di altissimo livello, tanto da meritare minuti di fragorosi applausi.
The Statement, lavoro di Crystal Pite, è incentrato sulla lotta di potere.
Accompagnata dall’inizio alla fine da un testo di Jonathan Young a quattro voci, la coreografia vede i protagonisti in contesa tra loro discutere animatamente intorno a un tavolo.
Le voci che provengono dall’audio – si sentono discussioni, velate minacce per scaricare la responsabilità dei superiori su un sottoposto e discorsi d’integrità morale -, sono il vero motore di ogni singolo movimento dei danzatori, i quali interpretano e trasformano in una danza fluida ed espressiva ogni sillaba, ogni parola e ogni suono che viene pronunciato.
Belle ed efficaci anche le luci.
Dopo una standing ovation della platea, è il turno di The Missing Door.
The Missing Door di Gabriela Carrizo, ha tutt’altre atmosfere.
Si tratta di un pezzo molto elegante di teatro danza, giocato tra realtà e finzione. Tema del lavoro sono la vita e la morte. Affrontato con ironia e con alcuni sketch esilaranti, la performance diverte e cattura l’attenzione del pubblico, che viene ancora una volta conquistato dalla bravura dei danzatori.
Ultimo lavoro ad andare in scena è Safe as Houses di Sol León e Paul Lightfoot.
Questa coreografia dal sapore e dallo stile neoclassico, su musica di Johann Sebastian Bach, è ispirata all’antico libro cinese dei cambiamenti I Ching.
Una grande parete bianca ruota in mezzo al palco creando giochi coreografici in cui
i ballerini hanno la possibilità, ancora una volta, di mostrare tutta la loro abilità tecnica.
La platea, a fine spettacolo, è assolutamente entusiasta.
Una serata eccezionale che conferma la grandezza di una delle più incredibili compagnie di danza contemporanea.
Tonight the Nederlands Dans Theater, one of the most important contemporary dance companies in the world, charmed and stunned the audience of the Haus der Berliner Festspiele with a memorable performance.
The company presented four choreographies selected from its repertoire made out of over 600 works.
The first piece they performed was Woke up blind by Marco Goecke.
The choreography is obviously inspired by Jeff Buckley’s two love songs which are accompanying the piece: You and I and The way young lovers do.
The dancers move in a perfect sync with the frenetic guitar sounds.
The precise, fast, technical but absolutely contemporary dance is the typical, unique and recognizable Goecke’s style.
The performance is of the highest standard, and deserves minutes of appalling applause.
The Statement, a work by Crystal Pite, is focused on the struggle between powers.
Accompanied from the beginning to the end by Jonathan Young’s four-voice text, the choreography sees controversial protagonists arguing intensively around a table.
The voices that come from the audio – you can hear discussions, veiled threats to unload the responsibility of superiors on an attendant and speeches of moral integrity – are the true engine of every single movement of the dancers, who interpret and transform into a fluid and expressive dance every syllable, every word and every sound that is pronounced.
The lights are beautiful and effective as well.
After a long standing ovation, is the turn of The Missing Door.
The Missing Door by Gabriela Carrizo, has a completely different atmosphere.
It is a very elegant dance-theatre piece, that plays with the contrast between reality and fiction. The themes of the work are life and death. Dealt with irony and with some hilarious sketches, the performance delights and captures the attention of the audience, which is once again conquered by the talent of the dancers.
Last work they performed was Safe as Houses by Sol León and Paul Lightfoot.
This choreography with a touch of neo-classical style, on Johann Sebastian Bach’s music, is inspired by the ancient Chinese book of changes I Ching.
A large white wall rotates in the middle of the stage creating choreographic games in which
dancers have the opportunity once again to show all their technical skills.
The audience at the end of the show is absolutely enthusiastic.
An exceptional night that confirms the grandeur of one of the most amazing contemporary dance companies.
