BERLINO Con la sua nuova performance “Unspeakable Community” Grace Euna Kim si interroga sul fallimento del linguaggio in tempi di crisi e su come questo produca le condizioni per il conflitto sociale e l’oppressione.
L’incontro performativo che si terrà il 2 e 3 settembre al Moabiter Stadtgarten, è un’esplorazione sovversiva di anticipazione e unione che mette alla prova le aspettative. Un vasto pubblico berlinese è invitato a riunirsi al parco senza sapere cosa accadrà esattamente. Ciò che gradualmente si dispiega è una coreografia sociale immersiva: un esperimento imprevedibile di solidarietà radicale che capovolge il “teatro” del pubblico e mette in discussione le finzioni della realtà.
Durante il mese di agosto, grazie a comunicati di attivismo sperimentale e azioni sui social media nello spazio virtuale e urbano, è stata data grande risonanza a questo lavoro. Attraverso questi impegni, Kim invita una fascia demografica diversificata a unirsi a “Unspeakable Community” – dall’estrema sinistra all’estrema destra, ai più emarginati ed esclusi, nonché ai più privilegiati.

BERLIN – With her new performance “Unspeakable Community” Grace Euna Kim questions the failure of language in times of crisis, and how this produces the conditions for social conflict and oppression.
The performative encounter is a subversive exploration of anticipation and togetherness that puts expectations to the test. A broad Berlin public is invited to come together at the park without knowing what exactly will transpire. What gradually unfolds is an immersive social choreography: an unpredictable experiment in radical solidarity that turns the “theater” of the audience inside out and calls the fictions of reality into question.
During the month of August, this work is foregrounded by experimental activist communication and social-media actions in virtual and urban space. Through these engagements, Kim invites a diverse demographic to join “Unspeakable Community” — from the far-left to the far-right, to the most marginalized and the most excluded, as well as the most privileged.
