Marco Goecke è candidato al Prix Benois de la Danse con Wir sagen uns Dunkles, suo ultimo lavoro coreografico per la Nederlands Dans Theater 2.
Paul Lightfoot, direttore artistico della NDT, si è vivamente congratulato col suo Coreografo Associato Marco Goecke e con la NDT 2 per la candidatura di Wir sagen uns Dunkles al Benois de la Danse. Il direttore si è definito molto orgoglioso del fatto che lavori di tale classe e integrità prendano vita nel manicomio creativo della NDT.
“Bravo Marco!” ha detto nella sua dichiarazione.
Il Benois de la Danse è una delle più importanti competizioni di danza. Il concorso è stato fondato a Mosca nel 1991 dall’Associazione Internazionale di Danza e viene indetto annualmente, di solito in primavera.
Quest’anno la cerimonia si terrà il 5 giugno presso il Teatro Bolshoi.
Wir sagen uns Dunkles ha debuttato lo scorso 4 novembre presso il Zuiderstrandtheater all’Aia.
Nel pezzo, le musiche di Schubert e Schnittke incontrano le canzoni dei Placebo: The Swan Song e Song To Say Goodbye.
Goecke ha dichiarato che i ballerini lo capiscono immediatamente. Non hanno limiti, vogliono essere sfidati.
In Wir sagen uns Dunkles, si muovono veloci, eseguono virtuosismi, gesticolano in modo singolare, ancora inconsapevoli e tuttavia sicuri di sé, nel linguaggio del movimento di Goecke.
Il pezzo è stato acclamato dalla stampa Olandese. Il quotidiano nazionale Volkskrant ha scritto: “In Wir sagen uns Dunkles, tutto vibra di una sensazionale eccitazione. Le mani, i polsi, le spalle e le gambe si arrendono a tremori veloci e inebrianti.” … “Gli arti si muovono avanti e indietro così velocemente che l’occhio dell’osservatore riesce a malapena a seguirli. E il crescendo fa sempre un’impressione indimenticabile”. Il giornale ha premiato il pezzo con il più alto punteggio di cinque stelle.
Il Theatrekrant e il quotidiano nazionale NRC hanno mostrato di essere d’accordo con questi sentimenti. “Lampeggiante, organico o semplicemente sobrio”, ha scritto il primo. “(…) il modo in cui Goecke bilancia movimenti ed energia, rende il nuovo Wir sagen uns Dunkles un pezzo solido.
“Ancora una volta, un pezzo affascinante” ha scritto Francine van der Wiel per la NRC. “La particolarità di Goecke è che si conosce il suo stile, ma continua a travolgerti ogni volta.” Anche Francine Van der Wiel ha dato il più alto punteggio alla creazione di Goecke.

Marco Goecke has been nominated for the prestigious Benois de la Danse with his latest work for NDT 2 Wir sagen uns Dunkles.
Paul Lightfoot, artistic director of NDT, says: “Heartfelt congratulations go out today to our Associate Choreographer Marco Goecke and NDT 2 for the nomination of Wir sagen uns Dunkles for the Benois de la Danse. This poetic and imaginative ballet drives into our world at full speed with inexplicable relevance. Such pride that works with such class and integrity can be forged in our creative madhouse…. Bravo Marco!”
The Benois de la Danse is one of the most prestigious ballet competitions. It was founded in 1991 by the International Dance Association in Moscow and takes place annually, usually in Spring time. The jury changes every year and consists of prominent figures from the ballet world. This year the award ceremony will take place on June 5, 2018 in the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
Wir sagen uns Dunkles premiered on November 4, 2017 in the Zuiderstrandtheater in The Hague. In the piece, the sounds of Schubert and Schnittke meet those of Placebo, The Swan Song and Song To Say Goodbye.
Goecke: “The dancers understand me immediately. There is no limit, they want to be challenged.” They move fast, virtuoso, gesticulate in peculiar ways, unconscious yet self-assured in Goecke’s language of movement.
The piece received critical acclaim by the Dutch press. National newspaper de Volkskrant wrote: “Everything vibrates in Wir sagen uns Dunkles. Of sensational excitement. Hands, wrists, shoulders and legs are surrendered to intoxicating fast tremolos.” And: “Limbs move back and forth so fast that the viewer’s eye can hardly keep up. And the exact implementation always makes an indelible impression.” The newspaper awarded the piece with the highest ranking of five stars.
The Theaterkrant and national newspaper NRC agreed with these sentiments. “Flashing, organic or just restrained”, wrote the former. “(…) the way in which Goecke balances movements and energy, makes the new Wir sagen uns Dunkles a rock solid piece.”
“What a fascinating piece yet again”, wrote Francine van der Wiel for the NRC. “The special thing about Goecke is we know about his style, but it still overwhelms you every time.” Van der Wiel gave the highest five star ranking to Goecke’s creation as well.
