Call for Projects – LUCKY TRIMMER Grant

Whether you may be an independent artist or collective who demonstrates artistic excellence and uses their practice as an innovative conduit for a social cause, we are looking for projects that showcase how art’s social dimension, addressing cultural responsiveness and responsibility.

How can art connect local communities and social minorities? How can artists encourage under resourced communities to overcome barriers, to participate in creative process and create equitable access to culture? How can artists or art organisations create conversations and social change through art?How can we increase environmental awareness or promote social equality through the arts? These are the questions we pose to you!

What is the LUCKY CHANGEMAKER grant?

LUCKY TRIMMER will grant one project with a 500 € prize and extra promotion support via our website and social media throughout the development and launch of the project.

What is the LUCKY CHANGEMAKER grant for?

– Socially engaged projects in which art is a catalyst for social change. All disciplines are eligible if they are engaged with physicality, movement and performance (including visual arts, literary arts, dance, theatre, film/video, music, performance-based arts, interdisciplinary/ hybrid arts).
– Projects that feature artists who engage socially underprivileged community members who would normally not have access to culture as equal partners.
– Creative process: We value the process as much as the product. Relationship building is a key goal and projects do not have to automatically result in producing an exhibition or a theatre production. Projects may, but are NOT required to, result in a physical artwork.
– Workshops, training, studio practice, if they directly relate to achieving outcomes of a community-based project.
Who can apply?
– Our special grant is open to all applicants, regardless of geographic location.

– LUCKY TRIMMER acknowledge that there is a growing and vibrant community of artists in our own backyard and we have a particular interest in strengthening our local socially engaged artists here in Berlin.

– Individual artists or collectives/collaborations working locally, nationally or internationally.

Realisation of the project
The project must be implemented in the year 2016. The recipient of the LUCKY grant must send us a report once the project is realised with accounts on how the grant has been used or on how it has benefited to the realisation of the project. The recipient of the LUCKY grant will also be invited to present their project at the LUCKY SUMMIT #8 in 2017.
