Audition Notice, Avant Garde Dance’s ‘Fagin’s Twist’

Following the success of the international and UK tour of The Black Album, The Place and Tony Adigun’s Avant Garde Dance are now casting for their new production Fagin’s Twist which will be created and toured in 2016.

Where: Touring (UK in 4 weeks in London). The company base will be in London.

Deadline for application: 10am on Tuesday 5 January

Fagin’s Twist will use the company’s distinctive and dynamic style to re-tell Dickens’ story of Oliver Twist.

We are looking for an eclectic mix of dancers who are strong in hip hop and/or contemporary technique, have physical performance skills and are confident speaking text.

We are inviting expressions of interest from dancers who have experience in the above styles, experience working with text, character work, physical theatre, strong soloists and group performers.

The project is co-commissioned by The Place, East London Dance, Pavilion Dance South West and Dance East, and co-produced by The Place.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a closed audition on Wednesday 13 January at The Place, London.

When:
The main periods of activity are as follows:
*       1 week rehearsal: 1-6th February
*       5 weeks rehearsal in the weeks commencing 14th March, 29th March, 4th April, 11th April, 18th April 2016
*       Production week 25th April
*       Premiere 29th April
*       May – beginning June: Spring tour (UK-wide)
*       September – October: Rehearsals and Autumn tour (UK-wide inc 4 weeks based in London)

*       A video clip/showreel that gives us an insight into your work, of no longer than 3 minutes.
*       Confirmation that you are available across all of the above dates
*       Either a CV (no longer than 2 pages), or a short description of your experience

Please note: applicants who do not submit a video will not be considered.

We will be in touch with shortlisted parties to invite them to a closed audition on Wednesday 13 January – you must be available all day on that day.
