Berlino – Ieri sera presso il Komische Oper di Berlino sono andate in scena le coreografie: Erde (Terra) di Nacho Duato e The art of not looking back (L’arte di non guardare indietro) di Hofesh Shechter.
Ancora una volta lo Staatsballett Berlin si è dovuto cimentare con due pezzi contemporanei.
Commissionata dal Brighton Festival nel 2009, The art of not looking back, a dispetto della reputazione di Shechter di essere un coreografo “maschile”, è un pezzo ispirato e realizzato per le sole ballerine della Hofesh Shechter Company.
Lo spettacolo inizia con le confidenze autobiografiche di Shechter, ma le uniche cose che è possibile sentire dalla sua voce registrata sono: che sua madre lo ha abbandonato quando aveva solo due anni nonché le sue parole sul senso di vuoto che un bambino può provare in assenza- appunto – della madre.
Le danzatrici abbracciano audacemente questo tema doloroso.
Sofisticate e contemporanee, tribali e per nulla eteree, iniziano a muoversi con una gestualità che riproduce gesti ordinari. Assumono pose composte eseguendo movimenti precisi ed equilibrati al centro del palco, mimano quel senso di vuoto e anche il parto per poi arrivare alla frenesia di una danza accelerata, totalmente innaturale ma di grande impatto.
The art of not looking back è un pezzo che riguarda le donne ma, attraverso di loro, parla a tutti noi che siamo destinatari del loro messaggio in qualità di figli, di uomini che le opprimono e di società, per come noi tutti le donne le percepiamo.
Erde, la nuova creazione del direttore artistico dello Staatsballett, è una coreografia sullo stato attuale del nostro pianeta.
Sul palco del Komische Oper, più di due dozzine di ballerini ci raccontano in danza dell’inquinamento, dei gas velenosi, del riscaldamento globale e di come noi uomini abusiamo della Terra.
Come sempre la danza di Duato è elegante e complessa. Davvero suggestivi i passaggi in cui i danzatori rappresentano il mare così come straordinario è il solo eseguito da Ksenia Ovsyanick.
Altro momento di danza molto potente è il pezzo di soli danzatori sul palco.
Luci e costumi impressionanti.
Uno spettacolo sofisticato per un tema caldo che dovrebbe stare a cuore a noi tutti.
Yesterday night at the Komische Oper Berlin Erde by Nacho Duato and The art of not looking back by Hofesh Shechter were on.
Once again the Staatsballett was challenged by two contemporary pieces.
Commissioned by Brighton Festival in the 2009, The Art of Not Looking Back, in spite of Shechter’s reputation to be a “masculine” choreographer, is a piece inspired by, and made for the female dancers of the Hofesh Shechter Company.
The show starts with Shechter’s autobiographical confidences. However, the only things we hear from his recorded voice are: that his mother left him when he was two years old and words about that feeling of emptiness that a child may feel in his mother’s absence.
The women dancers boldly embrace that sorrowful theme.
Sophisticated and contemporary, tribal and certainly not ethereal, they go through a series of daily gestures, at first, they mimic the sense of emptiness and also the act of giving birth to then drive themselves into a frenzy accelerated movements that appear somehow unnatural but nevertheless effective.
The art of not looking back is a work about women, but through them it speaks to all of us, as sons of these women, as men who oppress them; and to us as society and our perceptions of women.
Erde, the new creation by the Staatsballett artistic director, is a choreography about the current state of our planet.
Onto the stage of the Komische Oper, more than two dozen dancers tell us about pollution, toxic gases, global warming and how men abuse our Mother Earth.
As always Duato’s dance is elegant and complex.
The sections where the dancers represent the sea are really suggestive, just as impressive is the solo performed by Ksenia Ovsyanick.
Another very powerful dance moment is the one in which only male dancers are on stage.
Impressive lights and customs.
A sophisticate show for a hot topic which should feel important to all of us.
