BERLINO – Venerdì 18 ottobre, presso il Pfefferberg-theatre a Berlino, sono andate in scena tre brevi coreografie: Alpha della compagnia Dart, No Sudden Moves della Tribe// e Unsighted della Siciliano Contemporary Ballet.
Il primo pezzo a essere presentato al pubblico è stato Alpha della compagnia Ungherese. Quando le luci si abbassano, lungo i corridoi laterali della sala, compaiono dei danzatori che iniziano a muoversi con piccoli gesti di testa, spalle e braccia. In questa prima parte dello spettacolo, data la visuale ristretta, non è facile capire se i performer seguono canoni, vanno all’unisono o se danzano frasi diverse. Un paio di volte, l’unico membro della compagnia che indossa una tuta di colore diverso delle altre sale sul palco e, tra piroette e salti, fa tornare un po’ in mente la danza jazz degli anni ’80. Nella seconda parte dell’esibizione, tutti sono in scena e si alternano momenti di unisono a soli e duetti, ma nonostante la buona prestazione dei danzatori, manca una relazione con lo spazio e una drammaturgia che dia un senso unitario alla coreografia.
Il secondo lavoro ad andare in scena è No Sudden Moves del duo inglese Tribe//. In questo caso, sin dal primo istante, il pubblico è trascinato nella storia dei protagonisti, i quali, con una interpretazione molto sentita e vibrante, si esibiscono in un bellissimo duetto di danza contemporanea. Molto interessante la qualità di movimento di entrambi gli interpreti che, anche grazie alla loro espressività, mostrano una grande intesa e un uso consapevole e mai casuale dello spazio scenico. Ben eseguiti i passaggi di floorwork e le prese (fluide e mai gratuite). Il forte applauso finale mostra l’apprezzamento di tutto il pubblico.
Dopo un breve intervallo si riapre il sipario e ad andare in scena sono i padroni di casa che, per la prima volta, presentano Unsighted. Con questo lavoro, la Siciliano Contemporary Ballet, che si è sempre distinta per la qualità delle sue esibizioni, dimostra di aver acquisito anche una maggiore maturità nella drammaturgia e nella architettura coreo-scenografica del pezzo. Ispirata al film muto Metropolis di Fritz Lang, Unsighted è ambientata in un mondo futuristico caratterizzato dalla divisione di classe e da giochi di potere. Molto efficaci e descrittive le immagini, forti e drammatiche le coreografie, ben curata fin nei piccoli particolari la scenografia e bravi, come sempre, tutti i danzatori.

On Friday October 18th, three short choreographies were on at the Pfefferberg-theater in Berlin: Alpha by Dart, No Sudden Moves by Tribe// and Unsighted by Siciliano Contemporary Ballet.
The first piece to be presented to the public was Alpha by the Hungarian company. When the lights were dimmed, the dancers appeared along the side corridors of the theatre. They began to move with small gestures of the head, shoulders and arms. In this first part of the show, given the narrow view, it was not easy to understand if the performers were following a particular canon or whether they were moving in sync or dancing different expressions. A couple of times, the only member of the company that wore a different overall to the others would appear on stage and amidst pirouettes and jumps would bring to mind jazz movements from the 80s. During the second part of the piece, all dancers were on stage alternating between moments of unison to solos and duets. However, despite the dancers’ good performance, there was no relationship with the space nor a dramatic thread to give a sense of unity to the choreography.
The second performance on stage was No Sudden Moves from the English duo Tribe//. In this case, from the very first moment, the public was drawn into the protagonists’ story, who performed a beautiful contemporary duet with a very heartfelt and vibrant interpretation. The quality of movement of both performers was very interesting. Thanks to their expressiveness, they showed a great feel for the stage which was conscious, but never casual. The floorwork was well executed and the lifts were `always fluid and never frivolous. The audience’s strong applause at the end showed their appreciation.
After a short break, the curtain was drawn again and this time it was the hosts who presented Unsighted for the very first time. With this work, the Siciliano Contemporary Ballet (which has always stood out for the quality of its performances) also showed a greater maturity in terms of their dramaturgy and the choreo-scenographic architecture of the piece. Inspired by Metrpolis by Fritz Lang, Unsighted is set in a futuristic world characterised by class division and power games. The images were very effective and descriptive, the choreography strong and dramatic, the set design well curated in every detail and all of the dancers were as good as ever.
