Presso il Halle Tanzbühne Berlin è attualmente in corso il festival per i 20 anni della compagnia di Toula Limnaios.
Per questa ricorrenza, da maggio, nella rinnovata sede del Teatro, sono in scena brani di repertorio che ripercorrono la storia della compagnia dagli esordi a oggi.
Nel fitto programma di spettacoli, anche The rest of me in cui unica e sola interprete è la coreografa greca.
Lo spettacolo è un racconto molto intenso, spesso drammatico, a volte giocoso.
Sul grande fondale bianco viene proiettato un video in cui la protagonista corre lungo un sentiero boschivo, mentre in proscenio un filo rosso viene srotolato e lasciato in una diagonale, come a tracciare un cammino.
Segue un altro viaggio, zaino in spalla, in cui le cadute sono inevitabili come le risalite.
Poi una danza elegante e sinuosa, forse un tango, che si scompone e si frammenta in brevi corse su tacchi alti, in un equilibrio instabile e precario.
Lungo il cammino e durante lo spettacolo l’artista si spoglia e alleggerisce la sua zavorra per arrivare nuda a un finale ipnotico in cui, come gli uccelli che si muovono alle sue spalle, si muove in una danza libera e senza oscillazioni.
Grande la presenza scenica di Toula Limnaios che riempie il palco senza lasciare vuoti.
La sua performance cattura l’attenzione dal primo movimento sino al buio finale.
Ancora in calendario per il festival dedicato al ventennale della compagnia: Isson (2003) dal 21 al 24 luglio, Short stories (2005) dal 4 al 7 agosto, Wut (2012) dall’11 al 14 agosto e Holidays dal 15 agosto al 06 settembre.
Currently at the Halle Tanzbühne Berlin, a festival to celebrate 20 years of Toula Limnaios company is in progress.
For the occasion, from May onwards, in the renovated headquarters of the Theatre, pieces from the company’s repertoire, which trace its history from debuts to the present, will be performed on stage.
The shows include The rest of me, in which there is one sole performer; the Greek choreographer of the piece.
The show is a very intense story, often dramatic, sometimes playful.
On the big white backdrop a video is projected in which the protagonist runs along a woodland path, whilst in the proscenium a red thread is unrolled and left in a diagonal line, in order to trace a walk.
It follows another trip, a backpacker with a backpack on their shoulder, where the falls are as inevitable as the ascents.
Then an elegant and sinuous dance, possibly a tango, which decomposes and fragments itself into short strokes on high heels, into an unstable and precarious balance.
Along the way and during the show, the artist strips and lightens her ballast until becoming naked in a hypnotic finale in which, in the same way as the birds who move behind her shoulders, she moves in a free dance, without oscillations.
Toula Limnaios’s stage presence is very great; she fills the stage without leaving any gaps.
Her performance captures your attention from the first movement to the dark finale.
