Open call for a collaboration with an Italian choreographer Supported by the Italian culture center in Cairo

We are seeking a dance teacher or choreographer from Italy to collaborate with the Egyptian dance and music artist Mounir Saeed for a one-month dance workshop and a dance performance or presentation in Cairo. The theme of the workshop is “Chaos Theory in the Lens of Contemporary Dance.” How is the concept of chaos expressed in contemporary dance? How can we transform chaotic structures into harmonious unison? Chaos is often illustrated by the chaos theory, where a small event in one place can cause a major effect in another. In simpler terms, chaos represents a shift from stability to instability, or from order to disorder. Chaos can be considered a state of momentum that brings about significant changes in our surroundings and within ourselves, socially, mentally, psychologically, and physically. We are particularly interested in exploring its physical aspect, where chaos transforms order into irregularity.

Mounir Saeed is an interdisciplinary artist who got the prize of excellence from the Cairo Opera House in 2009 for his first solo (The Game). He participated in tours in Europe and the Middle East from 2016 until 2019 after winning the 3rd prize for performance with his solo (What about Dante?) at the 20th international solo dance theater festival in Stuttgart in 2016. He was a dance teacher at the National Dance and Music Academy in Rome. Saeed got an artistic fellowship for 9 months at Akademie Schloss Solitude, participated at La Biennale di Venezia 2021 for 3 months, and presented a group performance.
