Contemporary dancers required for a new Film (London commissioned film)

Damselfish is a new film by the award-winning director Charlotte Ginsborg commissioned by FLAMIN (Film London Artist’s Moving Image network).

The film centers around Tom Sietas, the world record holder for Static Apnea, the ability to hold ones breath under water. He can hold his breath for 22min & 22seconds. The film will combine footage of a new record attempt dive with footage of a contemporary dance performance choreographed by Kirill Burlov, set to a score composed by Gabriel Prokofiev. A narrative voice over will link the worlds of the stage and the diving highlighting the control, physical virtuosity and emotional engagement required by both these phenomenal activities.

The film will be distributed through SODA Pictures. It will screen at festivals, cinemas, and is scheduled for exhibition at various high profile galley spaces.

Dancers required:
1 female dancer & 1 male dancer
Both need a strong track record of contemporary and or ballet practice, preferably having danced, or currently dancing for a leading dance company. Technical virtuosity and innovation is key. Any age and ethnicity considered. We are actively seeking dancers in their 40s & 50s (as well as younger dancers) and from a range of ethnic backgrounds.
Both dancers will be encouraged to input creatively into the choreographic development. They will also be filmed talking about their experiences of dancing, which will potentially be included in the film.
